The Blue Fairy Necklace

$700.00

An impressive 40 x 35mm labradorite, ranging in hue from deep navy to cyan with flashes of bright royal blue, set in fine silver. A sterling silver thorn hangs freely from the apex. Sterling silver chain measures 32” long. One of a kind necklace, entirely handmade in the USA.

Labradorite is known for being in constant transformation. A neutral gray or blue indoors becomes intense ultramarine, gold, green, purple or even orange in natural light. The source of this otherworldly sheen is called labradoresence and lapidaries cut labradorite to maximize this flash. Rainbow moonstone also contains the same effect. Despite their different names, both are varieties of feldspar. Labradorite was initially found in Labrador, Canada but also occurs naturally in Russia, Mexico, and Finland. According to Innuit legend, labradorite is the earthly source of the northern lights. Labradorite is said to support mental health, vision, and inner worth.
